Beau Desert Golf Club

Beau Desert - 'Beautiful Wilderness' - bordering Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, is a classic Midlands course created by land owner the Marquess of Anglesey and completed by architect Herbert Fowler in 1911. It has developed into a magnificent heathland course. Each hole is tree lined and features gorse,heather, bracken and fern surrounding the fairways that are bordered by acres of firs and spruces. It measures just 6247yds but accuracy is at a premium and a feature of the large greens are the tricky borrows. The club has regularly staged regional qualifying rounds for The Open. The maturity of the course offers a perceived privacy as the varied holes are shrouded by trees and offers a welcome isolation.

Local Directions:	On leaving Cannock follow the A460 until you reach the area of Hednesford. After passing through the centre of Hednesford follow the road towards Rugeley and at the second set of traffic lights turn right onto Rawnsley Road. This is signposted for Cannock Wood. After approximately 1 mile you will turn left onto Rugeley Road. This is signposted towards the Golf Club. Follow the road for about 1 mile where shortly after leaving the village and entering the forest you will find the entrance to the Golf Club on your left hand side.
