Llanymynech Golf Club

Llanymynech is situated on a hill surrounded by sheer cliffs and steep banks on the Welsh/English border with breathtaking panoramic views of 12 counties and a haven for wild birds and animals. Originally nine holes in 1933, there are now 15 holes in Wales and three in England. Ian Woosnam started playing there at the age of nine and his parents were club captains. A tight lay-out with narrow fairways so the driver is not always required. But the holes are varied and the elevations are dramatic. The first hole reaches the edge of a precipice before returning through the tree-lined parkland. The back nine are the most spectacular – the drive at the 11th is over a cliff. The last three holes return up the hill.
