James Braid fashioned the Gleneagles Hotel King's course that opened in 1919 set in the splendour of the Perthshire hills in Scotland. It has matured into one of the best moorland lay-outs in Scotland with majestic views of the Ochil Hills, Ben Vorlich and the Trossachs. The holes blend perfectly into the landscape, the springy fairways wind through heather and gorse. Mature pines, silver birch and rowan provide natural amphitheatres on several holes. One great hole follows another through rolling terrain until the memorable 525-yard 18th King’s Hame where a good drive speeds over a ridge between the twin bunkers to a downslope towards the largest green on the course.

Ten of the Best Father’s Day Gifts by Natalie French
"A round of golf at Glen Eagles: His handicap may not be good enough for the 2014 Ryder Cup, but there’s no reason your dad can’t play on a championship golf course. The PGA Centenary Course at Glen Eagles was designed by acclaimed golf architect, Jack Nicklaus, and is the longest inland course in Scotland. Not only will your dad enjoy the huge undulating greens, he can also marvel at breathtaking views over the Grampians and the Trossachs as he lines up his next shot."
Ten Gourmet Golf Breaks by Stephen Killick
"Home to the 2014 Ryder Cup and also one of the world’s great hotels, Gleneagles is hugely popular with US tourists who enjoy some of the finest Scottish beef and salmon in the classical Strathearn restaurant or savour the two Michelin starred extravagance of chef, Andrew Fairlie. Fairlie’s signature dish is smoked lobster that is infused for 12 hours over whisky barrels. After fine dining or simpler, but equally delicious, fare available in the Dormie Clubhouse any self-respecting golfer will be in need of some exercise. And what a choice! The classic James Braid design of the King's Course, demands pin-point accuracy although it is easy to lose concentration amongst such majestic scenery, with soaring mountains to the north and rolling green hills to the south. The 2014 Jack Nicklaus designed course is the venue for Europe’s next Ryder Cup competition while the Queen’s course, though shorter, has attracted such legendary golfing names as Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman."
The Top Ten Destinations for the Business Incentive by Alex Blyth
"Built in 1924 the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire is famous the world over as a destination for a golfing trip. The Ryder Cup heads there in 2014, and, from May 2012, corporate groups will be able to embrace the spirit of the event with their very own Shotgun Start tournament. The package includes full scoring and tournament administration from the hotel’s team of PGA Qualified Professionals, and, prior to play, a two-course golfer’s lunch and tuition at the PGA National Academy, Scotland."
