The Oxfordshire Golf Club

American architect Rees Jones created The Oxfordshire which opened in 1993 and reflects an American style. The feature hole, a downhill par five dogleg right to left 17th curving around a huge lake to a miniscule green, is a classic case. A course built to high specifications as a tournament course with spectators in mind, it hosted the B & H International Open from 1996-99. Plays 7,200 yards off the back tees, embraces four man-made lakes and contains around 100 bunkers. The formidable 390-yard dogleg eighth is memorable as the green sits on an island peninsula guarded by an oak tree. The course is basically flat and tree-less but the greens are quality.
