The Belfry

The Brabazon course has hosted four Ryder Cups and is famed for a number of exceptional holes, notable the 18th that has staged untold drama. The tee shot and second shots are played over the same lake to a multi-tiered sloping green. Many a match has been won or lost there. The tenth is another feature, a short par four around 300 yards guarded on the right by a thicket and water that has become a tempting gamble for long drivers. Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas created the course from farmland but turned it into one of the world’s most talked-about courses. Thomas even gave it a £2.7m makeover in the late 90s to introduce more water.
