Marriott St Pierre Hotel and Country Club

Set in 400 acres of rolling South Wales countryside featuring a 14th century manor house hotel, the old course at St Pierre is a classic parkland with huge trees that encroach even further on the fairways each year, especially over the par-five first and ninth that run parallel. Every hole over the 6,750-yard par 71 course is attractive but 15th and 17th with approaches into greens set in water and the feature 18th par-three of 230 yards from an elevated tee over the edge of water to a high, well-bunkered green in front of the hotel is one of golf’s greatest finishing holes. The Mathern course also has similar features but is not as demanding.
