Shiskine Golf & Tennis Club

Shiskine is a most unusual course. Originally nine holes designed by Willie Fernie it became 18 after Willie Park was commissioned to extend the course. Six of the new holes fell into neglect during the first World War leaving now a 12-hole links on the western side of the Isle of Arran. Just about every shot at Shiskine is blind one both from the tee or top the green and in some cases, both. How many courses are there where the starter hands out a sheet of instructions to guide you, hole by hole, round the course? The third and fourth, called Crows Nest and The Shelf nestle underneath the Drumadoon Cliffs and are pure fun and seven of the 12 holes are par threes and total yardage is just 2,996 yards.
