Described as the hidden gem of the Highlands in an Alps-like setting, James Braid designed the 5,870-yard lay-out after the club started with six holes in 1898. The incomparable view from the clubhouse over the first and second fairways to the Cairngorm mountains is the start of an out-and-back 18-hole adventure in uniquely attractive surroundings. There are two par fives, four par threes and nine fours. Its shortness makes the driver almost unnecessary. The course wends its way up and down through heather, whin, pine and birch, the fairways pitch and roll. The far-four sixth is outstanding, a right dogleg between trees with a tricky approach to a hogsback green.
