The Grove

The Grove, a 7,152 yard, par 72 championship course earned international recognition by hosting the Amex World Championship in 2006. Approached by a long drive, exclusive, expensive but a golfing experience on country club hotel lines created by American architect Kyle Philips in the grounds of an 18th-century mansion. Built to USGA specification, with ultra-fast creeping bent grass greens, plenty of elevation changes, walkable, with slopes, ridges and mounds, meticulously maintained with great views. The varied challenge is typified by the 13th, spanning 244 to 139 yards according to tee position, and guarded by five bunkers. A gentle dog leg first reveals a pretty open lay-out where a driver can be used on most holes hitting to immaculate fairways. Several par fours exceed 440 yards, some greens are elevated and well protected.
