Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club

Shanklin is built on well draining heathland and is reckoned to be playable all year round. The course measures just over 6,000 yards, which is not long, but there are some strong slopes and gradients and with with tree-lined fairways and plenty of gorse, the premium is on accuracy and careful club selection essential. The 143 yard par three fifth and the 385 yard par four 13th are reckoned to be two of the best holes in the south of England and the 126 yard ninth across water is not bad either. The 13th with two massive bunkers menacing the drive is, not surprisingly, the stroke one hole.
