St Andrews Links (New)
The New, the second St Andrews course opened in 1895 and designed by ‘Old’ Tom Morris and David Honeyman over 6,625 yards, par 71, is situated adjacent to the Old Course on the sea side. Built on the same type of sandy soil, there are many similarities with the more famed Old. The natural land features humps and hollows, unpredictable bounces and another array of skilfully placed deep bunkers. Had it been anywhere else in Scotland it would have warranted a flood of visitors simply to play it, but is still rated one of the top 50 in Britain. A customary out and back links, there are shared fairways, thick gorse bushes and a double green servicing the third and 15th holes. A public course offering great value.
