St Andrews Eden Golf Course
The Eden, a par 70, 6,195-yard lay-out running along the Eden Estuary, was the fourth course constructed at St Andrews in 1914 by Harry Colt. Easier than the other three links courses that are closer to the sea over the same stretch of land, it criss-crosses the old railway line. Remodelled by Donald Steel in 1989, retains the charm and the natural features of the others with the deep bunkering, uneven lies and undulating greens. Unusually has a pond that comes into play along the left of the 14th fairway and green and intimidates the tee-shot at the 15th, a 170-yard par three. The long narrow tenth green makes the 198-yard tee-shot one of the most testing on the course.
