St Andrews Dukes Golf Course

The Dukes, 7,512 yards, par 71, is an American-owned inland heathland course high above the town with stunning views over countryside and sea. Designed by Peter Thomson in 1996, remodelled a decade later and opened by the Duke of York, Prince Andrew and Scottish rugby legend Gavin Hastings after the facelift that included 116 rebuilt or added bunkers. Five redesigned holes, including the final four that now offer a challenging finish, with extra length. But players of all abilities can feel at home as there are five separate tees on each hole. Despite being a modern parkland, there are some traditional features like stonewalls and burns. The par four seventh is an original feature from an elevated tee to a dogleg right fairway below, 513 yards from the back tees.
