Fairmont St Andrews

Two cliff-top courses offering marvellous views over the River Tay and the old town of St Andrews from just outside the town run round the ultra-modern St Andrews Bay Hotel complex built in 2001 are recent additions to the expanding St Andrews golfing scene. One was designed by Australian Bruce Devlin at 7,049 yards featuring thick rough and fiendish bunkers, massive greens, some of them double, with stone walls and copses of trees original features. The Torrance, slightly shorter at 6,986 yards, was finished by Sam Torrance after initial work from Gene Sarazen, is more traditional links offering spectacular sea views over the back nine finishing with a long uphill par 5 that veers left at the top by the clubhouse.
