Muirfield - The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers

Muirfield, home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, on the East Lothian coast is a regular Open venue and one of the toughest links in Britain. Old Tom Morris, Harry Colt and Tom Simpson all had an input into the lay-out of the world’s oldest golf club, formed in 1744. Designed with two concentric rings of nine, the first run clockwise while the return is anti-clockwise inside the outward nine. Wind prevails. The short 13th plays 191-yards uphill to a slender green guarded by five monstrous bunkers. The 504-yard par five 9th par is littered with bunkers. Some frightening downhill putts, thick rough, smallish greens with tricky borrows test the most accomplished player.
