Parkstone Golf Club
Parkstone, measuring 6,263 yards, par 72 demands keeping the ball straight or the penalty is thick heather rough that twists the club. Scots pines are a feature of a lovely course that offers glimpses of Poole Harbour. It has some excellent holes but is horribly penal in many places. You just have to hit the fairways or lose a ball. Visually very appealing, strategy is more important than length. Three of the final five holes are par threes – the 17th a delightful drop hole and the 18th requiring a 200-yard tee-shot over a valley to a green that is difficult to hold in front of the newly-renovated clubhouse.
