Brancepeth Castle Golf Club

Brancepeth Castle has some of the finest par threes and can claim to be one of the North-East's most picturesque courses. Designed by Harry Colt and at 6,400 yards and with a par of 70 it's a sound test. The first thing you notice are the rippling fairways and the second, ninth and 10th (played in the shadow of the castle) are three of the hardest par threes around. The latter two are close to 200 yards and play across a deep ravine which weaves through the course. The clubhouse is entered through an archway and surrounds an original cobblestone courtyard with its stone centrepiece, originally used as a watering trough for horses.
