Sandiway Golf Club

One of the high-class heathland courses in Cheshire, Ted Ray, the 1912 Open Champion, designed Sandiway in 1920, making exceptional use of the contours of the land. Five years later Harry Colt made alternations. Measuring 6,400 yards, par 70, it is a stern test as six of the par fours are more than 400 yards, the 466-yard 10th rated the hardest hole on the course. Factor in the small heavily protected greens with subtle borrows, a number of blind shots, some tight tee shots and it’s easy to see the stiff challenge. The par three third is a picturesque tree-lined feature hole with a bunkered green.

Local Directions:	From M6 junction 19 take A556 (Chester) and the entrance drive is within 11 (10.5) miles on left hand side of the A556. From Chester take A51 and then A556. Bear left onto A559 to tee junction in 800 metres. Turn right onto over bridge & take next right that is the on slip to A556 (Chester). The entrance drive is the next turning left in 250 metres.
