Sunningdale's two Harry Colt-designed courses in the Surrey-Berkshire heathland belt where quality courses abound are among the best and most exclusive. The Old course has held many championships and has become a world-class venue. The immaculate, true greens are fraught with danger as the subtle borrows and slopes require precise the highly accurate approach shots. The gentle par-five opener belies later difficulties. There are a number of elevations between the seventh and tenth holes. The short par four ninth and 11th are among the feature holes before a memorable round concludes with a testing slight uphill dogleg 18th.
