Glasgow Gailes Golf Club

Glasgow Golf Club, founded in 1787, has two courses 35 miles apart. Old Tom Morris laid out the original parkland course five miles from Glasgow city centre at Killermont in 1903. Glasgow Gailes, designed by Willie Park Jnr, opened for play in 1892 and is a challenging links amid the quality courses between Troon and Irvine on the Ayrshire coast and used for final qualifying for the Open. It plays 6,903 yards from the championship tee, par 71, and starts with a four par fours, then the par five dog-leg signature hole with out-of-bounds to the right and a treacherous green guarded by strategically placed sand traps. Fine subtle greens and plenty of gorse and heather.
