The town of Stranraer in south west Scotland lies at the head of Loch Ryan and dates back nearly 500 years to 1511 when Stranraer Castle was built. Today the town is home to ferry and catarmaran services to Belfast. Stranraer has several beaches and is an ideal centre for walkers to wising to walk the Southern Uplands Way.
