Bluebell Arboretum & Nursery garden

Bluebell Arboretum & Nursery: Our beautiful woodland garden was created in 1992 and now covers an area of nine acres. British native trees were first planted to provide shelter and into the wood that this created were planted hundreds of unusual trees and shrubs. An enchanting woodland walk with rare plant treasures on display to entice the real enthusiast! The arboretum is well labelled and has an adjacent specialist tree & shrub nursery.
During springtime the garden has masses of flowering trees, feeling fresh and full of vitality. The varied wildlife in the arboretum becomes quite vocal, with a veritable symphony of birdsong!
In the Summer the Arboretum is a lush, leafy and cool environment on all but the hottest of days.
The gardens are particularly striking in Autumn. Many of the trees and shrubs such as Acers, Quercus (Oaks), etc. here have been planted for their vivid autumn colours. In a normal year, the best time to visit for the colour is October or early-mid November.
In Winter the arboretum changes yet again, with the focus now being on plants with attractive bark, winter flowers, sturdy evergreen foliage and architectural habit.
Please be aware that despite our name, we are not a Bluebell wood!

Open Day: Free access to our beautiful arboretum all day! 9am - 4pm Visit our lovely woodland garden free of charge today! Depending upon the weather conditions, see the last of the autumn colour or a collection of trees with exquisite, ornamental winter bark! Please wear warm clothes and sturdy, waterproof footwear. Free tea/coffee to keep you warm while your walking around the gardens (1 per person).
