Ardkinglas Woodland Garden is set on a hillside in a peaceful location overlooking Loch Fyne. It is home to many of Britain´s Champion Trees including the `Mightiest Conifer in Europe´, a Silver Fir and the tallest tree in Britain, a Grand Fir, together with a stunning display of rhododendrons and azaleas. There is a Woodland Lochan and gazebo with a unique `Scriptorium´, somewhere to sit and enjoy the view whilst contemplating the quotes. The garden is of interest to the plant enthusiast or those wanting a peaceful woodland walk - watch out for the red squirrels!

Ardkinlas Woodland Garden’s most famous fact is that it is home to Britain’s tallest tree. Planted as a sapling 135 years ago (around the time Alexander Graham Bell was showing off his new telephone invention to Queen Victoria), this Grand Fir stands at 64 metres, that’s eight metres taller than Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square. Look out also for the 'Mightiest Conifer In Europe' and the grand Silver Fir. The favourable growing conditions around and about this lovely spot on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll are to thanks for the lush pinetum that is Ardkinlas – and it’s all set against a simply breathtaking backdrop of mountain, forest and, of course, the architectural gem that is Ardkinlas House. There are some lovely walks through the garden and estate and the grounds are open from dawn until dusk every day.
