Discover the beautiful Lytes Cary Manor and Gardens

The impeccable topiary that lines the path leading to Lytes Cary Manor in Somerton, Somerset, says it all about this simple, beautiful Arts and Crafts garden. The house was once the home of medieval herbalist Henry Lyte who used the Niewe Herball book on herbal remedies as inspiration for his plantings and is now a delightful mix of shrubs, roses and perennials, thanks to a restoration project by Sir Walter Jenner. The herbaceous borders in the garden rooms are simply lovely while the stunning lawns, Yew and Hornbeam hedges and the super orchard with Medlars and Quinces plus a central sundial, naturalised bulbs and mown paths and a real treat on long summer afternoons.
