Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens

The Millennium garden at Pensthorpe - The Natural Centre of Norfolk, was designed by internationally acclaimed plantsman Piet Oudolf. It is a naturalistic prairie style garden that fits perfectly into its surroundings. Its deep borders of colourful herbaceous perennials and drifts of grasses create an ever-changing tapestry of colour from summer through to late November. The garden sits in 500 acres of nature reserve in the Wensum Valley, with miles of trails through ancient water-meadows, woodland and a series of beautiful lakes. Also in its third year is the new Wave garden designed by Chelsea Gold medal winner Julie Toll, with meadow style plantings of herbaceous perennials among curved, clipped Yew hedging and rivers of grasses.
