Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens: Set in the beautiful Wensum Valley in North Norfolk and famous for hosting BBC Springwatch, this award winning attraction has something to offer all those who love nature, wildlife and the outdoors. Enjoy the inspirational Millennium Garden recently redesigned and replanted by the gardens original designer Piet oudolf, the first of his gardens he has redesigned. Discover the striking laces of Asitlbe chinensis var. Taquetii ‘Purpulanze’ which are married perfectly with the spun gold Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Goldtau’. The Garden builds dramatically to its peak in August, and then settles into a stunning new aspect with thousands of seed heads in autumn. The Wave Garden, opened in 2006, has year-round structure and interest, with Luzula dipping under the crests of yew and meandering through the resident trees in this lakeside garden. Thousands of bulbs and flowering fruit trees bring splashes of colour in winter and spring to this wooded lakeside garden. Designed by Julie Toll the garden works with nature using calm and naturalistic planting. Also worth wondering through is our Wildlife Habitat Garden which was opened by wildlife presenter Chris Packham and is packed full of hints and tips on how you can attract wildlife into your outside space.
