Holkham Hall garden

Holkham Hall Park and Lake is a carefully planned feature of the approach to the main house. Originally approached from the south through the Triumphal Arch, however today visitors arrive at Holkham through the North Gates due to a railway being built in the 1860s whcih passed the Northern side of the estate. The Lake was started in 1727 taking many years to establish itself and now is a little over one and a quarter miles long. The woods and parks are home to fallow deer and bird life.
