Walmer Castle & Gardens

The Walmer Castle Gardens hold much horticultural and historical interest. The moat that once surrounded the fort has been grassed over since the 19th century and now hosts a wide variety of flowers and other greenery. Enjoy a commemorative lawn, woodland walk, croquet lawn and working kitchen garden, as well as a vast double herbaceous border flanked by mature yew hedges. See the delightful Queen Mother´s garden, which was designed by Penelope Hobhouse for her majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother´s 95th birthday. The remainder of the grounds are mainly wildlife garden and are a great place to spot birds.
