Ightham Mote garden

Ightham Mote is situated in a hidden valley garden surrounded by coppiced woodland and farmland. The basic shape of the garden has been in place since the 16th century. A stream flows through the grounds feeding the North lake. It then cascades into the moat before emptying into the South lake. A woodland walk, orchard, long border and cottage planting all evokes gardening styles that may have been in place over the last 700 years. A plan for how the gardens will be managed and developed for the next 50 years is currently being planned.
