Explore the stunning grounds at Berrington Hall

The gardens at Berrington Hall near Leominster in Herefordshire are classic Capability Brown design. Think 456 acres of sweeping parklands and walkways leading to fabulous viewpoints that show off the landscape at its very best vantage point. There are three marked routes to take which ensure you get fabulous vistas en route. There are Victorian pleasure gardens here an amble through which will take you past glowing yews and along laurel walks. In the lovely walled garden is a sweet little orchard that yields up apple trees planted before WWI, old pear trees, quinces and medlars. Look out for riotous colour schemes starring red hot pokers and lupins. Don’t forget to stroll down to the 16-acre lake designed by Brown and now a Site of Special Scientific Interest thanks to the herons that reside on the island. Sit a while and spy the dragonflies, birds and wildfowl on the water. Finally, take in Brown's famous “divided view” from the steps of the hall, to the south west lies the lake; Croft Ambrey Hill to the north west and the landscape to the west that takes the eye all the way to the Brecon Beacons.

Berrington Hall also has a Historic House:
