Athelhampton House & Gardens

The formal Athelhampton Gardens originally designed in 1891 is a series of calm, sophisticated spaces, including the great court with its giant pyramids, a circular pleached lime grove and simple plantings of roses, clematis and tulips. Water forms a recurring feature with fountains, pools a formal canal with water lilies and the River Piddle. A dovecote dating from the 15th century still houses doves today.
