Claydon Estate Gardens


The Claydon Estate Gardens are a classic example of an English Country house walled garden, both decorative and productive. The gardens were first created by John Sanderson between 1763 and 1776 for the 2nd Earl Verney, whose descendants have maintained and redeveloped them in their own styles ever since. Situated behind Claydon House, the gardens include a 2 acre walled kitchen garden, a newly created Rose Garden (2006), a Pool Garden with a 19th century greenhouse and further recently recreated borders. The beautifully tended gardens give a stunning display of colour in summer balanced with the more practical and productive kitchen garden.
