Achamore Gardens

Achamore Gardens are a magnificent tapestry of camellias, primulas, daffodils, azaleas and various sub-tropical shrubs as well as rhododendron cultivated by Sir James Horlicks in the late 1940s. Some of his collection was bequeathed to the National Trust for Scotland so that rare species could be propagated and shared with other great gardens. In March 2002 the Isle of Gigha was the subject of a community buy out and the Heritage Trust is now continuing the work of maintaining and improving the gardens for the benefit of islander and visitor alike.
