Throckmorton Family Gardens at Coughton Court
Coughton Court is a lovely garden complementing the mid-16th century house, laid out over the last ten years by Mrs Throckmorton and her daughter Christina. There are a variety of `rooms´ within the garden both formal and informal, including an orchard with many old local varieties of trees, a herb garden, lime walk, a bog garden formed from a drained lake, bluebell wood and bulbs for spring colour and the walled garden renowned for its `hot´ and `cold´ herbaceous borders. A rose labyrinth and a pond with a fountain surrounded by benches, create a place for peaceful contemplation and has been awarded the Garden of Excellence by the International Rose Societies, the first time the UK has received it.
