Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum

Howick Hall Gardens has extensive grounds with ´Snowdrop Walks´ in February, a spectacular display of daffodils in late March to May, and the woodland garden where camelias, magnolias and rhododendrons flourish from late March to end May. The borders and terraces come on in June and a Bog Garden, with unusual herbaceous plants grown from seed collected in the wild on plant hunting expeditions abroad, is at its best in July, August and September. The Arboretum covers about 65 acres of woodland walks and contains 1800 different species of trees and shrubs. Howick is worth a visit in the late season when the autumn colour can be brilliant. The Earl Grey Tea House is open to garden visitors serving light lunches and teas - Earl Grey of course since Howick was his home!
