Mottisfont Abbey & Garden
The 19th century garden at Mottisfont Abbey is typical of the period, with sweeping lawns and stands of trees, much in the Capability Brown style. The garden is the result of the work of several well-known garden designers. In 1971 the kitchen garden was developed and holds a collection of roses from rosarian Graham Stuart Thomas, the National Trust´s gardens consultant. Visit in June for the best display. The grounds have a wonderful collection of trees; oaks, chestnuts, beech, hornbeam and more. The huge plane tree, thought to be the largest in the UK covers 1500 square metres.
