Somerleyton Hall & Gardens

The gardens and grounds at Somerleyton Hall have long been considered of first-rate importance, with more than twelve acres of garden surrounding the Hall. The wealth of evergreens and the general attractiveness of the grounds were noted even back in the mid-17th century. The gardens contain many magnificent specimen trees, shrubs and plants. In spring they are ablaze with colour provided by rhododendrons and azaleas, while later, the formal beds and herbaceous borders contribute their own magnificence. Specimen trees include giant redwood, Eucalyptus gunii, Monterey pine, Atlas cedar and a good specimen of the maidenhair tree. Many rare trees have been planted since the hurricane of 1987.
