Muncaster Gardens

Muncaster Castle and gardens described by John Ruskin as the `Gateway to Paradise´with over 70 acres of glorious gardens set around the castle, featuring plants and trees from all over the world. Spectacular, monstrously tall, early-flowering rhododendrons, camellia and azalea collections set against the dramatic backdrop of the Lake District fells. Don´t miss these in April & May, or `Bluebell Heaven´ in April. No matter what time of year you visit, there is always something in flower. The Victorian Kitchen Garden, recently renovated, hosts a traditional Veg Garden, a carefully researched Herb and Physic Garden and a plant centre.
