Cliveden garden

Cliveden is a vast and very important landscaped garden, filled with whatever money could buy, balustrading from the Villa Borghese in Rome, the dramatic `Fountain of Love“ and a huge parterre below the house. The best parts are the Arcadian ilex wood, quite magical, and the Secret Garden redesigned by Isabelle Van Groeningen in 2001. Featuring a series of gardens each with its own character, topiary, statuary, water gardens, a formal parterre, Octagon temple, informal vistas, woodland and riverside walks. The present house, the third on the site, was built by Charles Barry for the Duke of Sutherland in 1851.
