Discover the facinating History of Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill

Thousands of people flock to Anglesey Abbey, Garden and Lode Mill each January to March to witness the wonderful Snowdrop Festival that takes place annually in the Winter Garden and on the Woodland Walk. But there is plenty more to see here through the year. This hundred-acre garden, created from 1926 onwards by the first Lord Fairhaven, is a lovely and rather grand blend of 17th century French style and 18th century natural landscaping. Wander down tree-lined avenues, explore the dahlia, hyacinth and semi-circular herbaceous gardens and look out for Lord Fairhaven’s impressive collection of statuary dotted around the grounds.

"The Winter Walk at Anglesey Abbey is a justly famous. Almost half a kilometre long, it’s packed with winter flowering shrubs like mahonia, wintersweet, viburnum and winter honeysuckle, shrubs with interesting stems and bark, and bulbs such as cyclamen and aconites. There are also over 200 varieties of snowdrops and a stunning grove of Himalayan birches, with vivid white trunks."
