Swain House B&B

48 Swain Street, Watchet, Somerset, TA23 0AG

From the moment you set eyes on Swain House it’s clear this is no ordinary B&B. This former Victorian shop in the ancient harbour town of Watchet in Somerset is home to Jason and Annie Robinson, who have turned this period abode into something more akin to a luxury boutique hotel. Rooms, swathed cool tones of grey, cream and white, are matched with expensive-looking furniture like the impressive thick wood breakfast table and inviting king sized beds. Arty folks will love the mammoth floor-to-ceiling murals in every bedroom from The National Gallery or National Portrait Gallery, while those looking to be pampered will coo over the slick bathrooms, which feature a rolltop slipper bath, walk-in shower, REN toiletries and piles of deep white towels. Snuggle under the sheets and watch your favourite DVD on the state-of-the-art Sony Bravia TV – and make your stay even more memorable by asking the owners to arrange fresh flowers, homemade chocolates or a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne on ice on your arrival.

A high end B&B in a tired little town. An absolute gem. A brave venture. As yet nowhere 'posh' to eat but endless possibilities. I think Swain House and harbour rejuvenation will be forerunner in an up market ascension.

Beautifully presented accommodation, smart clean and very modern.
Would have loved to take the bathroom home, gorgeous large bath to relax in and great power showers.
Be prepared for a very leisurely breakfast but great company passed away the time.
Watchet is charming and recommend the museum and Dunster castle is a must.

Everything about Swain House is absolutely meticulous from the carpets, decor, comfort, detail, quality. The rooms are beautiful and tasteful and to a very high standard. Finer details such as flasks of fresh milk in rooms, proper coffee with cafetiere, polished handles, stunning murals, I could go on!

Boutique B&B with 4 bedrooms in centre of this harbour town. Attention to detail. Spotlessly clean. Beautifully furnished rooms, each room features a full mural from the National Gallery/Portrait Gallery. Roll top bath, excellent shower. tea/coffee in room and water jug and home made brownies on arrival. Excellent breakfast. Jason the owner is friendly, knowledgeable about the area. Very well located for visiting other attractions.

We were a little apprehensive as we'd booked and viewed online... Not always 100% reliable! Our worries were totally unfounded because Swain House was fabulous in every way, from the warm welcome with tea and home-made cake, our luxurious room and en suite, and the mouth watering, leisurely breakfasts. There was simply nothing to complain about and everything to rave about. This is boutique accommodation at it's very best, no detail overlooked, with stylish and tasteful décor that is both welcoming and relaxing and your every need catered for, an absolute treat which we plan to repeat again and again. Wonderful!
