Preston House sits in a quiet unsung corner of Northumberland opposite a historic Pele Tower and is surrounded by ancient trees on one side and rolling fields down to the coast on the other side. Four bedrooms furnished with antiques and luxuriously comfortable beds, generous bathrooms with extra large baths and power showers, one with a shower cubicle for the less nimble. An elegantly furnished drawing-room for quiet moments. Individual tables (that can be joined together for larger groups)in the beautiful dining-room, where an extensive breakfast of legendary quality is served. The perfect escape for those seeking a relaxing break between the coast and countryside of this county - yet still under 2 miles from the A1!

Activities nearby: Golf courses, Boat trips to Farne Islands, Unspoilt coastline and fabulous beaches, Gardens and country houses, Holy Island of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh close by, good selection of eating places within a short drive
Local directions: Turn off the A1 road 6 miles north of Alnwick signed Preston Tower, Ellingham and Doxford. Stay on this minor road, pass signs for Ellingham on left, village school on left and Joiners Bunkhouse on left. Preston House is next on left with stone pillared gateway. Swing wide to pass through gates and park at the front door.

Our 4th stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Everything you could ask for. Comfy large bed. Extensive breakfast choice with fresh fruit dish every day. Tea and homemade cake offered every afternoon. Beautiful scenery and peaceful countryside. Bliss

George & Debbie are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. The house is comfortable as are the bedrooms and cleanliness is of the highest order. Breakfasts are excellent with many choices and combinations. The best B&B we have ever stayed in.

We stayed 2 nights and the welcome and hospitality was first class. The bedroom and en-suite is beautiful, clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb. We had tea and cake on arrival and each day and a 'wee dram' etc in the evening in front of a lovely fire. We will return.

We have just spent 5 days here and cannot fault the generous B&B accommodation. Tea and cake every afternoon, a selection of wine and whisky after supper. Debbie and George were friendly without being nosy and attentive without being intrusive - a rare talent. We have never stayed in a more comfortable or more welcoming B&B.
