GOLD award winning and one of the top rated B&Bs in Shropshire, Penn Peel Cottage is a delightful cottage dating back to 1860 on a country lane in the rural village of Bomere Heath, close to the medieval town of Shrewsbury. This is a village gone back in time located 4 miles north of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire, where you can browse boutique and high street shops. The accommodation is full of character including beams and log burner in the cosy lounge. There are a choice of breakfasts from locally sourced produce including homemade jams, free range eggs with home cured bacon and sausages from the prestigious Battlefield 1403 Farmshop served on fine china in our dining conservatory. There are two luxurious self-contained ground floor bedrooms furnished in a cosy country cottage style for your comfort, both with en-suites, including one with wet room. These have comfortable beds, quality duvets and pillows, soft towels, dressing gowns and slippers, luxury complimentary toiletries. Free Wi-Fi. Within walking distance, there is a friendly public house (Red Lion) with live music nights, shop, post office, fish and chip takeaway, hairdressers with beauty salon, village hall (open to non-members), tennis court, cricket ground and children’s play area. Fishing can be undertaken at Merrington Green, the River Severn or one of the meres in Ellesmere. For the cyclists, we are a perfect stop off for the Lands End to John O'Groats route with our laundry and wash down facilities. Packed lunches can also be provided. With views towards Pim Hill, which rises to 163m and covered in Rhodendrums in early summer, Bomere Heath is easily accessible to Shrewsbury, Ellesmere, Oswestry, Chester, North Wales, Ironbridge Gorge, Church Stretton, Bridgnorth and Ludlow. The use of an iron, ironing board and hairdryer are available on request. Also, there is a travel cot and high chair available for our younger guests. A very warm welcome awaits you all.

Local directions: From the junction of the A49/A53 follow signs to Ellesmere (A528). At the next main roundabout, you will see an Audi garage on your left. Go straight across and take the exit signposted 'Bomere Heath' along Huffley Lane. On the approach into the village, take the 2nd turning on the right into Windsor Lane. As the road bends round to the left, you will find Penn Peel Cottage on the right near to the junction of Broomhall Lane with its own private parking. Please note that Sat Nav brings you in at the other end of Broomhall Lane which is a picturesque but single track lane. The car parking area consists of gravel but there is a concrete path from a dropping off point outside of the accommodation for your ease and convenience. You will find car parking spaces close to the self-contained bedrooms either at the front of or at the side.
