Forwood Farm is a beautiful 17th Century Cotswold country house recently totally renovated to a high standard offering luxurious en-suite accommodation. Forwood Farm enjoys a most beautiful and peaceful setting with stunning views. All rooms enjoy fabulous views of the valley and Gatcombe woods. Situated on the outskirts of the wonderful ancient town of Minchinhampton, home to the Gatcombe Estate and the Princess Royal. Minchinhampton is an excellent example of a small costwold town, many buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Complete with post office, butchers, chemist, antique and village shop, coffee house, pub and restaurants it is able to cater for most needs. Minchinhampton lies between Stroud and Cirencester besides 600 acres of National Trust common land offering fantastic views across to the River Severn and beyond. Activities include walking, cycling (route 45 of National cycle way passes Forwood Farm). Golf. Gliding and even hot air balloon rides can be arranged. Many public houses and restaurants are easily assessible from the house and give ample opportunity to sample the delights on offer. Five minutes by car, or 30 minutes on foot is the town of Nailsworth, a busy town full of interesting shops, pubs and cafes. There are lots of lovely market towns to visit, all within 10 to 20 minutes away. These include Stroud with its multi award winning farmers market which is one of the busiest and most popular farmers markets in the UK. Cirencester , a fabulous roman town, known as the ”capital of the Cotswolds” is steeped in roman history and has a roman amphitheatre and the Corinium Museum. The town has wonderful art galleries, cafes, individual shops and parks where it is easy to while away a morning or afternoon. Tetbury with its Royal connections and beautiful architecture is just 10 minutes by car. You will find lots of amazing antique shops and up market boutiques in which to browse as well as the famous Highgrove shop. Just outside Tetbury is the famous Westonbert arboretum, well worth a visit. Westonbirt has a full calendar of events and it is well worth booking one of its lovely open air concerts or exhibitions. Within about 35 minutes to under an hour there are also the Cities of Bath and Bristol and the wonderful town of Cheltenham. Min nights - 2 at weekends.
