Just two minutes’ walk to the pretty harbour, Britannia House has been welcoming visitors to Lymington since 1865 when it was the Britannia Commercial Hotel. These days it runs as a B&B operation and has been transformed into a welcoming, homely place to stay. A cosy sitting room complete with period furniture, swagged curtains and a marble fireplace sets the tone and bedrooms are individually decorated to a high standard. We can’t think of a nicer way to be woken up than by the sound of the clinking yachts in the harbour. You’re just a stone’s throw from the bustling shops and cafes of the town and five minutes in the car from the beautiful New Forest. Parking, by the way, is unrestricted and plentiful.
