Wemyss House in Easter Ross, overlooking the Cromarty Firth with kites and buzzards soaring above, certainly has natural beauty on its side. This two king-sized room and twin room B&B blends period features with contemporary design; the bedrooms are filled with handmade furniture by Stuart, Wemyss’s owner, and festooned with characterful Highland rugs, pottery, tweeds and original artwork. Crisp white cotton bed linen, gowns and slippers add a luxury touch to the sleeping quarters while the sitting room, where you can sit by the wood burning fire or, if you’re lucky, listen to host Christine play the grand piano, serves as the perfect chill out room when nights draw in. It’s renowned for serving up superb food, from the Highland breakfast cooked on the traditional Aga, complimentary afternoon tea and delicious home-cooked dinners (£38pp).
