Thurnham Keep B&B

Thurnham Keep is a magnificent, Edwardian country house set within seven acres of landscaped gardens, nestling in an unrivalled position on the North Downs complete with breathtaking views. The three huge, double en-suites are situated at the front of the house with panoramic views across Kent and the adjoining en-suite bathrooms are features in themselves, two retaining the original, large porcelain baths. We have a varied breakfast menu which includes eggs from our hens, honey from our hives and jams made from our kitchen garden fruit. There are excellent road links within easy reach - the M20 5 mins, M2 10 mins making Thurnham Keep ideally situated to enjoy all the many attractions that Kent has to offer. Leeds Castle is a few miles away, being visible from the house and numerous National Trust properties and celebrated gardens, including Knole, Ightham Mote, Chartwell, Penshurst Place and Sissinghurst within a 30-40 minute drive away. Many other places of interest nearby are Whitstable, Canterbury, Rochester and The Weald. Closer to home is the Kent County Showground which holds numerous antique fairs and garden shows throughout the year and just a 10 minute stroll down the Pilgrim's Way is Cobham Manor Riding Stables which offers hacks and lessons. But, being right on the North Downs this is an excellent place for walks and the ruins of Thurnham Castle from which the house was built are just a stone's throw away. We are fortunate to have one of Kent's most popular gastro pubs at the bottom of our drive and two superb restaurants and three other pubs just a mile away.
