Attention to detail second to none. Amazing breakfast, comfy bed, luxurious yet homely. Absolutely loved it. Will be coming here again. Fantastic hosts. We cannot praise this place enough. Ideally located for visiting Somerset. Also for an evening meal try the short walk to the local Poacher's Inn.

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Stables last week. Simon and Alyson are first rate hosts and run an excellent B &B. Very comfortable bedroom with lots of little extras. Breakfast was excellent and hope to return.

The Horse has Bolted, the Tamworth's, Old Spot's and Saddleback's are safe from the Big Bad Wolf, the Chickens have been put to bed and the Cat is now well and truly out of the bag!

Discretely nestled down a private drive, tucked away behind the Poachers Pocket, lays a hidden gem. The horses have made way for what is now a stunningly hostelry with lots of charm and character with the most welcoming host Alyson, Simon, their daughter Wendy and Jasper the golden retriever, who are the most welcoming of people.

The accommodation is superb, comfortable and cosy, with every eventuality catered for and then more, things that you just would not normally consider, there are thoughtful touches everywhere. Breakfast is excellent, whatever your taste, every aspect is catered for.

The Old Stables really is the most spectacular place to stay, not just in Shepton Mallet, or in Somerset, but as the advert says, 'most probably the best' ever...certainly in our experience!

The word is out on this hidden gem!!!

5 star accommodation with the most comfortable bed, and a thousand little touches and extras to make you feel welcome and at home. Clean and attractive, and hosts Alyson & Simon make you feel extremely welcome and that nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfasts were amazing, and huge! to set you up for any adventure during the day.
Look forward to returning soon

Some people run a BnB as a sideline or a money earner, it normally shows. Alyson and Simon are thoroughly professional. They have created a wonderful atmosphere of friendliness and tranquillity, their attention to detail would put most top boutique hotels to shame.
Our room was spacious it had an enormous comfortable bed and loads of little extras. We were so relaxed we didn't bother with the mindfulness colouring book complete with pencils that were provided. the Old Stables Breakfasts compete with the best full English/Irish or Scottish that I have had.
Even if Somerset is not where you want to go for your break, go to the Old Stables anyway, you wont regret it.

My partner and I spent two wonderful nights here. Easy to find and located at the end of a beautiful tree-lined private drive this wonderful barn conversion exceeded our expectations.

Warmly greeted by Alyson and Simon, we were shown to our beautiful accommodation, a large spacious bright room with a view over lovely open fields with cows grazing.

Our room was beautiful with quality furniture and fittings, a large exceptionally comfortable bed, with luxurious pillows, a comfortable sofa, there was nothing that had been forgotten to make our stay the most comfortable, pleasant experience. Simon brought us up a bottle of local fresh milk to keep in the fridge in our room, far better than the UHT rubbish that most hotels have! A wide selection of local teas, coffee and hot chocolate and a lovely jar of home made biscuits. Attention to detail in every way. And not forgetting a good selection of reading material with interesting, quirky books and info on local places of interest.

A spacious bathroom with large shower and luxury toiletries, large soft fluffy white towels, soft and fluffy robes....and then the breakfasts.......simply to die for! Fresh local produce, home cured bacon that Simon cures himself, fresh eggs from their lovely friendly hens, scrumptious sausages, lovely bread and selection of quality jams, tasty fresh fruit, croissants and yoghurt, selection of cereals, not forgetting home made pancakes from a family recipe. Such a warm, friendly service, we would not hesitate to stay here again!

The Old Stables exceeded our expectations, 5 star accommodation, 5 star hospitality in a picturesque part of Somerset, what more could you wish for? To visit again, and again and again and again......

Alyson & Simon have create a wonderful place to relax and use as a base to go and explore the rest of Somerset. They made our dog welcome as well and there was plenty of scope for doggy walks. We will be returning as soon as possible.

Alyson and Simon are impeccable hosts. If you're thinking about staying here...just do it. They are excellent at running a B&B. Beautiful rooms, fine linen, thoughtful touches in the room, delicious brekkie. Just wish that their new puppy had arrived when we were there. Will stay again for sure!

The Old Stables is undoubtably one of the best places I have ever stayed in. It is a beautiful converted barn in a stunning location. The bedrooms are beautiful, with high end Egygptian cotton sheets, comfortable mattress toppers and a choice of pillows. The owners have added lots of little touches which stands then out above the rest. Fresh milk in the fridge in your room, a gorgeous little box of anything you may have forgotten, books for the children and binoculars on the windowsill to watch the wildlife. The bathroom has a superb power shower and they provide huge fluffy bath towels and a bath robe. The breakfast was delicious, a huge choice from yoghurts to a full cooked English and the home made Granola was out of this world. The owners have got this spot on and I would definitely recommend.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Old Stables. What can we say......
It is a perfect, quiet, relaxing haven. The room was amazing, the bed so very comfortable and enormous, the bathroom had a brilliant shower and wonderfully soft towels and the breakfasts are to die for. Alyson & Simon have thought of everything you could need and their detailed touches just make the stay even more perfect. Their friendly welcome made us immediately feel at home. We will definitely be returning and our advice to anyone thinking of a visit is, don't think twice just book for a wonderful break. Thank you Alyson & Simon

Good range of teas and filter coffee in room with a small fridge containing proper milk. Outstanding breakfast with real sausages, home cured bacon, free range eggs and offer of fresh fruit, smoked salmon and American pancakes. This is a wonderful and luxurious Bed and Breakfast in the most beautiful Somerset landscape. The detail put into your experience is full of love and care. It is very close to the Bath and West show ground, 10 minutes from the train station and between Frome and Glastonbury. No better Somerset location for a long weekend.

Alyson and Simon were excellent hosts, the B&B is warm and inviting and the breakfast is top notch (great variety from home cured bacon to vegan American style pancakes). The rooms are spacious, clean, very comfortable and have great pastoral views. I recommend The Old Stables wholeheartedly to anyone visiting Somerset.

And last but by no means least the breakfast was fit for a King!! The hot food and the pancakes and the personal touches too!! And yes .... Those sausages and the bacon that Simon has cured himself.... Wow wow wow....... We would give 10 stars but it only allows the 5!
