It is said that only Ascot sells more champagne than York, where it is considerably cheaper! York stages two of the best Flat meetings in Britain, the Dante Festival in May and the even more popular Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival in August, which is the highlight not just of their racing year, but of many racegoers too. Set in 150 acres of parkland, it boasts award-winning, modern facilities, first-class catering, Listed buildings, plus lawns and flowers within beautiful surroundings. The totesport Ebor Handicap is the major contest at the August meeting, but York also stages many other valuable handicaps and Group races, and is sited just 1.5 miles from the historic city centre. Why not make a weekend of it?

Location: York Racecourse lies within a mile of the city centre and is served by convenient road, rail and air access routes, including: -Fast and frequent trains run from London Kings Cross, taking as little as 1 hour 52 mins (buses or a brisk walk to the racecourse) -Direct trains running from Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham -Shuttle buses run from the train station to the racecourse at approximately 10 minutes intervals before and after racing -The recommended road route is from the A1/M1 link and then the A64 the following the signs On racedays we operate a traffic plan which may mean temporary road closures so please follow the signposted routes and be aware that satellite navigation systems will not contain the traffic plan routes.
