Chepstow Racecourse

One of only three racecourses in Wales, Chepstow proudly hosts the country’s most prestigious race, the Welsh National, run just after Christmas, the centrepiece of its best day’s racing of the year. Chepstow’s location – just across the Severn Bridge and a couple of miles outside its pleasant town – means its all-year-round programme is invariably well attended, and it is a popular day trip from bigger surrouding towns such as Cardiff, Bristol and Newport. Chepstow’s setting is extremely pleasant – in 360 acres of parkland, nestled in the Wye Valley – as it the walk from the local town, with its many restaurants and pubs. The surrounding countryside, like much of Welsh border country, makes it an ideal destination for a weekend break.
