A trip to Dewars World of Whisky, eh? We know what you’re thinking – and yes, you do get to sample the blends, but only at the end, you understand. First you must earn your drams by getting your head around what, why and how the experts create this age-old brew. The trip entails a walk around a traditional working distillery to watch production and a crash course in the story of John Dewar, the founder whose genuinely interesting story charts his rise from Highlands lad to the producer of America’s top selling whisky. The story goes back to 1898 when the Aberfeldy distillery began producing the much acclaimed single malt which has become the basis for its many popular blends. The shop offers exclusive bottlings and you can even bring your own vessel to be filled – no buckets, please!
